La Scuola
The School of the Mediterranean Diet represents a cultural-scientific tool capable of deepening all the themes of the various sectors that make up the food chain.
After the family, the first authoritative social level is represented by the scholastic institution; it is necessary to intervene in this training range to establish stable food rules, to create a lifestyle (said Mediterranean) capable of following substantive guidelines; it proves more tiring than expected to eliminate the unhealthiness consolidated in the so-called years of well-being, even more evident in industrialized countries.
The SIDMe (Scuola Italiana Dieta Mediterranea) prepare training courses to give to the territory, to municipalities and society, experts capable of completely renewing consolidated habits, applying simple and easy patterns.
Food culture
Research affects the nutrient profile (macro e micro) as well as advantages and disadvantages of the human body, addressing the chemical and biochemical needs of each individual; not all people need the same components; you have to know, study and suggest, pertanto, products capable of introducing the useful and necessary elements to keep the capacities and functions of the various organs always balanced and functional; the lack of essential components produces imbalance and disease (oxidative stress). È necessario, quindi, know the components present in the production soil, verify their presence in the product and suggest it to those who need those components.
SIDMe has agreements with university research centres (Pavia, Parma and Rome) to carry out biochemical investigations on the products in the sample territories, succeeding, così, to identify the nutrients, even the more specific ones, to complete a label to be displayed on the package, capable of offering every nutritionist the technical elements useful for a suitable and appropriate use and avoiding juvenile pathologies, premature aging and the growth of hidden diseases.
Lifestyle
There is no doubt that nutrition is the main element in the chain, but there are many other risk factors (FdR) that confuse the rules of healthy and correct growth; usual factors (food excess, sedentary lifestyle, inheritance, use of voluptuary foods such as smoking, alcohol, drug). Infine, the lack of introduction of essential nutrients, that the body does not produce and therefore exogenous (essential fatty acids, essential amino acids), it means that if these are not introduced from the outside it will lead to a shortage, For all life, causing irreparable damage to the organs that need it.
The project, in collaboration with ATS (Territorial Health Authority), and Order of Doctors of Pavia, started on 20 November 2017 and with completion scheduled for the end of the school year, they joined 5 educational institutions (3 comprehensive institutions, 1 hotel school and a high school) with altogether 82 childhood teachers, primary and secondary I^ grade e 50 4th and 5th grade students)
The project was found to 2 stages:
-First phase of training of teachers and participating students (with 9 hours of frontal lessons e 3 hours of practical training with methods of transferring and teaching students and with the development of peer-education methods)
-Second phase of transfer of the notions learned by the people trained in the classes of the participating institutes in the province of Pavia.
Everything was monitored through learning and satisfaction questionnaires.
