Virus Anxiety

VIRUS ANXIETY

of Gianpiero Delmati

In the period of pandemic, the small screen has taken on a preponderant image. We find TV channels that every 15-20 minutes “shoot” burst of news regarding the Pandemic in the world: infected, hospitalized, “buffered”, intensive care and… deaths. But also various”tips” proposed by illustrious personalities of medicine in general (ecc virology.) that, in several cases, appear to be in contrast with each other. The Italian government manifests itself – In summary- tinkling, and approves measures they encounter “resistors” by some Regions that, claiming a certain freedom of autonomy, they stand in contrast with the executive by proposing variants and discussions . In my opinion, all this affects the citizen who remains bewildered, appunto, from all these reactions and counter-proposals, since it is “bombed” from news that overlap and contradict each other. This causes a state of anxiety in the population caused by frantic uncertainty, of fear: with a soul divided between hope and fear for one's health. When it is announced that the Healthcare is in crisis and difficulties increase for bookings for routine and / or specialist visits that take days, to be able to contact the Local Health Authorities of the former ASL or Booking Centers… beh, anxiety grows. When your GP only sees you by appointment (justified) maybe after eight to ten days and you have health problems … social discontent is also growing. If the news shows that the outpatient clinics, cause “Virus”, they do not receive common sick people… that planned hospitalizations are suspended, that the intensive care units are in crisis, that there is a lack of doctors, nurses… I let you imagine what the tension in the citizens might be. Even the decrees of the President of the Council of Ministers DPCM every fortnight are a cause for anxiety. Citizens are anxious:”Oh my Madonna”, what will they tell us? what we will have to do, what they will forbid?” Forse, making us all accountable, we will be able to get out of it.
